Smart Cards are typically credit card-size pieces of plastic with an integrated electronic chip with surface contacts. They are used for a wide variety of information storage and processing applications in industries such as telecommunications, banking, healthcare and public transit. Smart Cards can be integrated into processes or manufactured devices for easy data storage and transfer. Dawar’s focus is currently on contact-based smart cards.

We can design and produce a Smart Card to best meet your needs. We mill, implant, test and encode Smart Card modules and print and die-cut custom graphics on cards. We support modules from several different manufacturers.
Dawar’s typical production requirements are to the ISO 7816-2 Standard for “Identification Cards – Integrated Circuit(s) Cards with Contacts,” which specifically defines the location of the chip on the card.

Dawar exercises precise control of the milling and implanting process to produce cards that exceed ISO standards for bending and flexing. Our use of cyan-acrylic adhesive helps produce a card with no backside dimpling (suitable for thermal printing) and excellent resistance to thermal stresses.
